The Grand Ballroom group classes, designed and taught by Andy & Wendy Wong, is the most successful teaching system in Canada. Since the studio’s grand opening in 1994, Andy and Wendy have taught more than 8200 classes and over 15,000 students - an unprecedented achievement! Without doubt, Andy and Wendy are the most experienced teachers of beginner students in Vancouver and probably the whole country. What is the reason for their success? It is their clarity of teaching and their ability to make students feel at ease and have a lot of fun in the classes. Other studios have tried to copy Andy & Wendy’s system but have never equalled their success.
When: Students have a choice of either the Tuesday night class from 7:30 to 8:50 pm or Saturday morning class from 11 am to 12:20 pm. We also have a class on Sundays at 4 pm but the instruction is in Cantonese for this class. The following are the new start dates for the next 3 months. Join us on any of these dates.

How Long: The Beginners class is a 10-week course consisting of 2 lessons each of Salsa, Cha Cha, Waltz, and Jive, and 1 lesson each of Tango and Foxtrot.

All group classes are ongoing
This means that once we finish one cycle, for example an 10-week Beginners Class, we will start a new cycle. we teach one dance for either 2 or 3 weeks before moving onto the next dance in the curriculum. With this flexible system, students progress equally in each dance from level to level. Furthermore, since all students have one year to finish their classes, they never have to worry about missing classes.
Join in any time and finish any time within one year of registration
Anyone can join in a group class at any time provided they have completed the previous level (e.g. finished Beginners before joining the Bronze I). We strongly recommend that new students join the group class of their choice at the beginning of a new dance. Our schedule of classes is always published two months in advance and can easily be obtained at the studio or from our web site.
Singles and couples are welcome
Singles and couples are welcomed to all our very popular classes. The average size of our Beginners class is 70 on Tuesday and 40 on Saturday. In general, the ratio of ladies to gentlemen is very close to 50-50.
The best system in Vancouver
The Grand Ballroom group class system for teaching International style ballroom dancing is widely considered the best in Canada. It has been often copied but never equalled. Students have full control on their rate of progress from one level to the next.
The greatest flexibility
All group classes are ongoing. This means students may join in any group class at any time as long as it is the first class of a particular dance. Furthermore, all students have a one-year period to take their classes without losing credit.

The most thorough curriculum
The Grand Ballroom group class system follows closely the Canadian Dance Teachers Association (CDTA) syllabus for International style ballroom dancing. It is a step-wise system going from Beginners to Bronze to Silver to Gold to Gold Star levels.
