Dancing with the Richmond Stars

The Richmond Community Hospice Foundation will be hosting a fundraising event called “Dancing with the Richmond Stars” on Saturday March 3, 2012 at the Grand Ballroom. The Hospice Foundation provides funding for the Richmond Hospice Association, a non-profit society that provides support to those at end of life, their families and loved ones. In support of this great charity event, Andy and Wendy has donated The Grand Ballroom as the host venue. In addition, Andy has organized five professionals to pair with 5 local celebrities to perform on this evening. All of the professionals will be donating their time to train their celebrities.

This semiformal evening will consist of dinner, dance competition, judges comments, audience voting for ‘best performance of the night’, professional dance showcases and dancing for all to cap off the evening.

Each year, The Grand Ballroom is the host venue for the UBC Dance Club Gala Ball featuring the BC Open Amateur Championships. This year is especially important in that it will be the 50th anniversary celebration of this fabulous event. The Grand Ballroom group class system, developed and instructed by Andy & Wendy Wong, is the most successful teaching system in Canada. It is often copied by other studios but never equalled. Since the studio’s grand opening in 1994, Andy and Wendy have taught more than 9500 classes and over 16,000 students – an unprecedented achievement!
